Turgen (Bear) waterfall is located between Assy plateau and Issyk lake

  • Turgen (Bear) waterfall is 85+ km away from Almaty city center
  • from the parking lot a trail leads to the waterfall: its condition depends on weather and can be dry, dusty, muddy, icy, snowy, etc.
  • trail is around 1.5 km long and takes 20-40 min to hike
  • driving to the waterfall is not possible: only hiking

Issyk lake is located between Turgen (Bear) waterfall and Almaty

  • Issyk lake is 70+ km away from Almaty city center
  • road from the parking lot to the lake is around 1 km long and comfortable
  • on-and-off shuttle service operates along this road
  • swimming, boating not allowed
  • there is no guarantee that the vehicle will not break down
  • provincial infrastructure is less developed compared to the city
  • do not expect mobile internet, Wi-Fi, F&B in the province to be as good as in city
  • exploring natural sites carries a risk of insect bites
